This questionnaire forms part of a study entitled “Equine Rider Behaviour in the Great Britain and Ireland” designed to evaluate the types of rider consumer in Great Britain and Ireland based on their behaviour and relationship with their horse. The questionnaire will take approximately 15 minutes.

Every year the HAS University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands carries out the National Rider Survey, which has resulted in publishing industry trends and benchmarks for Dutch equestrian consumers. Due to increasing globalisation in the equestrian sector, this year I have partnered with HAS University to expand the survey to gain an insight into the needs and behaviours of equestrian consumers in Great Britain and Ireland. The results of the survey will be published in the annual publication of the Hippische Monitor (the Equestrian Monitor).

It is hoped that the results from this study provide a benchmark for future research into rider behaviour and rider purchase habits in Great Britain and Ireland. Furthermore this research is intended to identify consumer types giving the equine entrepreneur the opportunity to capitalize on the passion of the rider for its horse. Through a smart use of trends the entrepreneur could transfer the passion for the horse into a sustainable business model.
